Easy Traditional Appliqué Instructions

Download your design, unzip and open in viewer.
For each appliqué design you will find a coordinating file named DIELINE.
The dieline is the outline guide for each piece of appliqué. You will print it out if your embroidery software has this capability and if not you can sew it out on a sheet of paper without thread (it will be perforated). You will trim around the template but do not cut it out yet. Please make sure that you have the correct scissors and that they are sharp for the most precise and crisp design.

To Prepare your Fabric Template

1. Print out template from Dieline file. Sew out on Paper if your software does not have this capability.
2. On a flat surface with iron available , lay out your lightweight stabilizer, fabric and printed appliqué template from Dieline.
3. Gather your spray adhesive or craft glue stick and sharp scissors.
4. Place stabilizer on table surface and gently spray with adhesive.
5. Place fabric wrong side down on top of stabilizer.
6. Gently press with iron to set.
7. Gently spray with adhesive (lightly) the right side up fabric.
8. Place the template on top of fabric with printing side up.
9. Gently press.
10. Grab your scissors
11. Cut out your template on the outside of dielines (NOT ON THE INSIDE) but right against the line.
12. Remove paper template from top. Store for later use.
13. Gently press
14. Turn off iron.
You are now ready to appliqué. Hint.. If you are doing several appliqués it saves a lot of time to do these steps first and then you are ready to appliqué when the time comes.

To Embroider your Appliqué

Hoop your stabilizer and garment/project and get ready to go.

1. Sew out the colors in the sequence provided in the color charts.
2. When you arrive at the appliqué portion of the design the first color to sew out will be the outline.
3. Sew out the outline.
4. Place your prepared fabric template with paper removed on top of the outline. Be sure to spray it first with spray adhesive or craft glue so that
is securely affixed on top of the outline and gently finger press into place or use a mini hot iron tool available at your craft store.
5. Next sew out the tack down stitch.
6. Next the Satin Final Stitch is sewn out.
7. Continue on with the rest of the design.
8. When completed remove garment/project from hoop and gently press appliqué for a crisp look.
8. You are finished.
